Tra le soap opera ha trionfato Beautiful che si è portata a casa i riconoscimenti come miglior serie drammatica, migliore attrice non protagonista (Heather Tom), miglior giovane attore (Scott Clifton) e miglior regia. Durante la serata Oprah Winfrey ha ricevuto un premio per i suoi tre decenni di televisione. La stessa sorte è toccata ai conduttori dei quiz storici americani Jeopardy e La ruota della fortuna, Alex Trebek e Pat Sajak. Infine, per il secondo anno consecutivo, The Ellen Degeneres Show è stato considerato il miglior talk americano.
